Mustangs Fall Short in Opener

The Mustangs opened the 2019 season at Charles Wright today.  Historically, this has always been a tough matchup, but the Mustangs came ready to play.
The midfield core of Cary Auguston, Ryan Thomas and Gustavo Urrutia controlled play for RCMS.  Aidan Tranholt In goal made two spectacular first-half saves to limit the Tarriers scoring.  After conceding two first-half goals, the Mustangs found themselves down 2-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Cary Auguston broke through and got the Mustangs on the board.  As the match wore on, Mustang pressure continued to mount.  During the final 10 minutes of the game, the attack dominated with multiple shots going off the crossbar and goalposts.  Sustained pressure kept the Mustangs in front of the Tarriers goal; however, they were unable to find the back of the net.
The Mustangs came up just short at the final whistle 2-1 to a rival that provided an excellent test for the season.
