With the end of the school year begins the start of summer which means football! Summer football camp has begun and the Rainier Christian Mustangs are gearing up for a run at the playoffs.

Last year the Mustangs missed the playoffs by just one game as they saw their chances to play for the Tri-District tournament diminish as they were defeated in a close game vs. Quilcene late in the season.

Losing a few seniors to graduation in some key positions will be something the coaching staff is looking to fill. Noah Bryant, Nic Kay, Christian Merrill, and Tyler Decky will all be missed, however, with the departure of seniors comes the promise of new talent and hungry players.

With promising athletes Landen Bruce, Brett Jaime, Emilio Castaneda, and more joining the team, the Mustangs should be able to find some quality pieces to fill in the holes.

Lead by returning Senior and 1st team all-league QB Caleb Jaime, the Mustangs offense is primed to put up big numbers! Receiving Jaime's passes will be returning starter and speedster Jimmy Archer and possession receiver Logan Hanbey. Protecting Caleb Jaime upfront is a young and unproven offensive line lead by returning Senior and Mr. Reliable Hayden Heft. He looks to anchor the line and allow Jaime and company to score at will.

The defense has the potential to be stout this year, but will need to grow up fast with young talent across the board. 1st team all-league linebacker and do everything defensive player is Logan Hanbey. He looks to make a statement senior year as he leads this young defense and helps mature them as the season progresses.

With speed everywhere Coach Jeff Nelson and his assistants look utilize this talent and put them into open space.

Summer is the season of perpetual optimism but this team is shaping up to be scary good! GO MUSTANGS!
