Today the Mustangs played at the Hazen Highlanders home pitch. With the fan support in the stands, it had the feel of a Mustang home match!
After a midfield battle to start, Hazen began to possess and attack the Mustang goal. In the 15th minute, the Highlanders were successful and scored the opening goal. RCHS put together some good opportunities but the defensive play of Hazen did not allow many looks on goal and the soccer at half was Hazen 1, RCHS 0.
The second half saw the Mustang attack come to life as they dominated in possession. Again, they created many scoring opportunities but the Hazen defense held. Eventually Dawit Yohanes and Yohan Choi connected on a give and go that resulted in a goal, however the referee blew the play dead on an offsides call. The Mustangs were determined to avoid being shutout and continued to press putting multiple shots on frame as their defense lead by Josh Ward held off the Highlanders. With time winding down, a pass out of midfield found its way to Yohan Choi who had a one on one chance with the keeper. This time there was no offsides and Choi was able to put the ball past the keeper to the far post for the equalizer in the 80th minute.
Final score was 1-1 as the Mustangs improve to 4-1-2!
